I recently completed my postdoctoral fellowship at CUHK, where I worked with Prof. Guoliang Xing in the CUHK AIoT Lab, and I am now starting new projects. I earned my Ph.D. in Computer Science at UCLA under Prof. Songwu Lu. My work sits at the intersection of AR/mobile systems, agentic AI, and intelligent sensing: I build LLM agents that perceive the physical world through sensors and act on it through hardware, always from a user‑centered perspective. By pairing rigorous systems research with field‑based design, I translate new computing ideas into practical impact.

I also hold an M.S. from UCLA (2018) and a B.S. from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (2016), where I worked with Prof. Xinbing Wang.

Outside the lab. I regularly visit accessibility‑focused organizations to keep my research grounded. I also photograph the places I pass through and make soft-body renders in Blender; both are collected on my artwork page. Otherwise I unwind by off‑roading and motorcycling.

research

three threads
01

Accessibility technology

Assistive AR that simplifies everyday interactions. Sign language recognition, translation and production running on the mobile device, so communication between Deaf and hearing users happens without a delay and without a third party in the room.

02

AIoT-based eldercare

Privacy-preserving sensing and LLM-based assistance that support healthy, independent aging. Built and deployed with nursing homes, hardware manufacturers and rural communities rather than in the lab alone.

03

Agentic systems for the physical world

Agents that can actually operate hardware. Translating heterogeneous sensor systems into something a model can plan over, exposing sensors to agents as tools, and carrying a device from a plain-language idea through firmware, board and enclosure.

🎓 Wrapped up my postdoc at CUHK! It has been a privilege to work with Prof. Guoliang Xing and everyone in the AIoT Lab. I’m now kicking off some new projects with a great team — more to share soon. Stay tuned!

⚡ We released vibe-hardware, an open-source toolkit for AI-agent-driven hardware automation: from a plain-language idea to firmware, PCB, and enclosure, and on to a fab order. From design to manufacturing, and from design to the user’s hands. Give it a try!
